About 2008 BMW E90 3 Series LCI M3
2008 BMW E90 3 Series LCI M3:
The E92 M3 is currently more popular than ever before, despite the absolutely ludicrous period for old sports car valuations. On sites like Bring-A-Trailer and Cars and Bids where vehicles are auctioned off, E92 M3s are going for eye-watering prices. For good cause too, since it features the only naturally-aspirated V8 engine ever installed in an M3 and has the best-looking M3 in my view. It also has pure hydraulic steering. The E90 BMW M3 Sedan is a vehicle that is comparable to it but may be even better, however it doesn't appear to garner as much attention.
Although I could only locate sales data for the complete E9X series M3 as a whole, I don't have official sales data for the E92 M3 Coupe and E90 M3 Sedan, but the E92 is unquestionably the more popular vehicle based on auction sales, online posts, and social media. The four-door model of the vehicle appears to have been rather overlooked, which is unfortunate because it could be the superior model.
In essence, the E90 BMW M3 Sedan is identical to the E92 M3 Coupe with the exception of having two extra doors. The same six-speed manual or seven-speed DCT transmission, the same chassis and suspension, and a superb 4.0 liter naturally aspirated V8 with 414 horsepower and a rev limit over 8,000 rpm are all present. This means that driving it is just as exhilarating and entertaining as driving a coupe, with the extra convenience of four doors and a bench seat in the back.
